Description

Sunday, October 20, 2:00pm-3:00pm

Bird bones/Sparrow songs is an interdisciplinary performance and shared communal meal. Begun as a collaboration between NYC Bird Alliance AiR Kiera Bono and Ella Dawn W-S in 2022, this project investigates questions surrounding birds, disability, internal structures, and external structures. Moving through multisensorial scores and collective care practices, Kiera Bono, Michelle Mantione, Krista Miranda, Ella Dawn W-S, and Lu Yim find disabled relationalities with one another and with sensory textiles created by Sugandha Gupta using Kiera's accumulated wrist stockinettes. This performance will take place at Liggett Terrace (on the food court side of Liggett Hall) on Governors Island. Registration encouraged, but not required. Free.

Access Information: The performance will take place on pavement accessible to performers and audience members who use wheelchairs and/or other mobility aids/devices/etc. There are accessible indoor restrooms in the Arts Building near the ferry landing and an accessible trailer restroom in the food court. You can find more information about accessing Governors Island here on their website, but please feel free to reach out to Kiera at kiera.bono@gmail.com with any access questions.
