Members-Only: Shadow a Collision Monitor (11/4)

11/04/2024 07:00 AM - 08:30 AM ET

Admission

  • Free

Description

Step into the life of a Project Safe Flight collision monitor with volunteer extraordinaire Melissa Breyer and Katherine Chen, NYC Bird Alliance’s (formerly NYC Audubon) senior manager of community science and collision reduction. Together, we’ll monitor a typical bird collision route in Lower Manhattan and learn about how that collision data powers NYC Bird Alliance’s advocacy efforts and shapes important legislation to make the city’s buildings safer for birds. We’ll then stop by nearby Rockefeller Park afterwards for some extra birding.

Registration required. Must be a current NYC Bird Alliance member to register. Limited to 15.

Accessibility and Directions:

We will be traveling on concrete sidewalks and flat terrain. Restrooms will be available along the route. The 1, 4, 5, A, C, E, J, R, W, and Z trains stop within a few blocks of the meeting location.
