Description

Meet at Calvert Vaux Park and explore this Brooklyn waterside site on an early morning stroll. We'll arrive just after low tide and look for foraging Osprey, waders, and terns in Coney Island Creek. A surprising variety of nesting landbirds have also been found at Calvert Vaux Park in recent years, including Willow Flycatcher, Eastern Kingbird, Baltimore Oriole, and Indigo Bunting.

Registration required. $28 for NYC Bird Alliance members, $42 for non-members. Limited to 12.

Accessibility and Directions:

A free parking lot is available inside the entrance to Calvert Vaux Park off Shore Parkway (at the meeting point). Please use the MTA app or other mapping app to find the best public transportation route, the morning of the outing. (The B6 and X28 buses normally stop near the park; the Bay 50 St D subway stop is a 20-minute walk from the park.)  Restrooms are available by the parking lot; additional restrooms can be found by the Calvert Vaux Playground near Cropsey Ave. between 27th Ave and Bay 46th Street.
