NYCHA in Nature: Birding in Wyckoff Gardens and Gowanus (5/17) (Free)

Description

Join NYC Bird Alliance, Gowanus Canal Conservancy, and the Public Housing Community Fund to look and listen for birds! We'll stroll through the Gowanus and Wyckoff Gardens NYCHA complexes, which are full of large trees and lush vegetation, perfect habitat for song birds. The group will meet in front of the Wyckoff Gardens Community Center at 280 Wyckoff Street.

 

Registration not required but encouraged. No limit. Free. No experience necessary!

 

NYCHA in Nature is a partnership program with NYC Bird Alliance and the Public Housing Community Fund to offer birding opportunities and exposure to nature for NYCHA residents and the general public. The program will explore the outdoor space within the NYCHA developments as well as nearby public green space.

 

Accessibility and Directions:

We will travel on flat, paved paths throughout the event. Restrooms can be found inside the Community Center. The meeting location is only a few blocks away from the Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr train station where one could take the 2, 3, 4, 5, B, D, N, Q, and R trains. The B37 and B65 buses also stop within two blocks of the meeting spot. Street parking may be available.
