It's World Migratory Bird Day and we are highlighting the importance of community science to bird conservation.

 

Fort Tryon Park offers stunning views of the Palisades and Hudson River from its soaring cliffs of bedrock. Spanning 67 acres, the park features many well-paved walkways designed to accommodate a wide range of mobility needs for birders with stroller, wheelchair, walker, cane, and other mobility aids.

 

Led by birding guide and educator Alexandra Wang (Avian Alex), M.S. Ed., this inclusive outing offers specialized resources such as augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) pamphlets, Braille guides, and plush bird replicas, ensuring an enjoyable and enriching birdwatching experience for everyone. Further accommodations can be requested in advance by emailing Alex at alexmwang1992@gmail.com

 

Registration not required but encouraged. This outing is free. The group will meet at the main entrance of Fort Tryon Park on Margaret Corbin Circle. 

 

Accessibility: Well- paved walkways are found throughout the park. There is an accessible restroom at the Bonnefont Restaurant. To learn more about Fort Tryon Park, please visit the NYC Parks website

 

Directions: The M4 bus will take visitors to the main entrance at Margaret Corbin Circle. If you take the A train to 190th Street station and take the elevator up to Fort Washington Avenue, Margaret Corbin Circle will be on your right. The 175th Street A train station is an accessible station. Exit and take the M4 bus to Margaret Corbin Circle.
