Description

We're back with the 10th Annual Jamaica Bay Horseshoe Crab Festival! This festival celebrates the ancient mating ritual of these charismatic "living dinosaurs" that come to our shores each year, helping provide a vital food source for migrating shorebirds like the endangered Red Knot!
Attendees will meet at Sunset Cove (American Ballfields) Park Broad Channel, Queens to see Horseshoe Crabs on the shoreline and learn about their ecological and medicinal importance!
This is a partnership with NYC Bird Alliance, Jamaica Bay- Rockaway Parks Conservancy, American Littoral Society, Gateway National Recreation Area, and NYC Parks.
Accessibility: Participants have the opportunity to walk down to beach and potentially in knee-length water. Partner Organizations are located on a paved path.
Directions: Broad Channel American Park is accessible by the Q21 bus. The Q52-SBS and Q53-SBS buses are also located a short distance away.
