Join NYC Bird Alliance and the Queens County Bird Club for a Birdathon walk in memory of César Castillo. Alley Pond Park was one of César’s favorite birding spots. Celebrate his passion for birds by spotting as many species as you can, honoring his legacy and love for birds. All are welcome to participate!
Registration is optional, but strongly encouraged to help us plan. The group will meet at the Alley Pond Park parking lot located at Springfield Boulevard and 76th Avenue.
Funds raised through the Birdathon will support efforts of engaging the Queens community in birding, specifically aimed at connecting underserved communities with nature. You can contribute by donating when you register.
Accessibility: This park contains a mix of paved paths and uneven, unpaved surfaces on somewhat hilly terrain. Restrooms are available at Horatio Parkway and 50 Avenue, at the entrance off Grand Central Parkway (wheelchair-accessible), and at Springfield Boulevard, 73rd Avenue and 76th Avenue.
Directions: Public transportation is accessible via the Q43 and Q46 buses. There is onsite parking at the Alley Pond Environmental Center on 76th Avenue. Additionally, free parking near Alley Pond Park is abundantly available on the surrounding streets. Within the park, you’ll find free street parking on the Alley Pond Park State Route on the Southwest side.
