Celebrate Black Birders Week 2026 (May 25-May 30) with NYC Bird Alliance! Black Birders Week was created in 2020 by the BlackAFinSTEM Collective to celebrate and empower Black individuals in nature, promoting a more inclusive, diverse, and welcoming space. This year's theme is Flyways & Freedom: Advocacy, Action, and the Future. Learn more at BAFiS website.
Join NYC Bird Alliance and the Riverside Park Conservancy on a bird outing on the last day of Black Birders Week 2024! Right on the edge of the Hudson River, Riverside Park provides beautiful views of the water and great habitat for migratinng birds.
Registration encouraged. No limit. Free. The outing will begin at West 157th Street and Riverside Drive and conclude at the pedestrian bridge at West 181st Street.
Accessibility: Riverside Park contains paved pathways, some with slight elevation. Restrooms can be found along Riverside Drive on 91st, 97th, 124th, and 142nd Streets.
Directions: The meeting spot is located right at the 157th Street 1 train station. The M4 and M5 buses can also be found near the station.
