Lights Out legislation, which would reduce unnecessary nighttime lighting in commercial and office buildings, represents a simple, commonsense conservation practice to support birds, people, and the planet. Each year, millions of birds migrate through New York City, relying on natural light cues for navigation, but nighttime light pollution disturbs these cues, disorienting birds and drawing them into our dangerous urban environment. Lights Out legislation will help keep our migrants on track.
